Bridget Jones

I love Bridget Jones! The movie that is. I'm a huge fan of both movies (which I own), and am very much in love with Colin Firth. I want me a lovely man like him... *sigh* And sadly I think I over identify with Bridget Jones... but I don't think I'm quite as socially awkward. Well, I hope not anyway. I watched the second movie on Sunday night again. I also love 'love actually'. I tried to buy it yesterday as an ex rental, but they'd run out of copies. Anyone who'd like to buy it for me, please feel free.

Don't know if I have a favourite moment. But when Colin Firth smiles, I melt.

Bridget Jones' Diary is good, but really ticks me off for this reason:

It is a ridiculously blatant ripoff of Pride and Prejudice. They even cast Colin Firth as an identical character to Mr. Darcy WITH THE SAME BLEEDING NAME!

And for this reason, I hate Bridget Jones' Diary.

It's like a crappy band who get famour because they cover someone else's really good song. Blerr...

    No more cover songs Megan.

Erm... I have no idea what you're talking about...

And Dboy, I thought about what you said, and while I can see some similar themes, the story lines are completely different! And yes, it was weird how they used the name Darcy again, but it doesn't really worry me coz I think they are great movies (and I'm sure the books are good too) and like I said, the story lines are totally different.

Mayhaps you are right, mayhaps you are not. I think Hugh Grant's character is very much like Mr. Wickham too, and the fact that they fight over the main female lead seems a bit coincidental.

But maybe there are enough differences to make it original.

Sorry, just had to clear up that I actually really like it when good bands do covers (like Faith No More with "This Guy's In Love With You") and I love cover bands too :)

I just don't like it when an unknown band does a cover of a song, and instantly shoots to stardom (probably through a marketing team), and everyone thinks that they were the ones who wrote the song that they covered! Just like whoever has just covered "Everywhere" by Fleetwoof Mac. There's so many people who didn't even know that Fleetwood Mac were the ones who wrote it, and the new song really hasn't done anything different with it for it to warrant a cover.

Yeah, I agree it becomes dodgy when they dont' acknowledge the original artist.
