Goodbye Steve

This morning I watched Steve Irwin's public memorial service on tv. It was fantastic! It was such a fitting tribute to a man who saw himself as just a regular Aussie trying to follow his passion for wildlife and conservation. It was very moving and really spoke about a man who had a huge and positive impact on everyone he met. I want to be remembered for that. He did so much with his life. No one can say that his was a life wasted. He was truly a good man who served others and loved everyone. I suggest you watch it if you get a chance to, it's really moving.

it was very entertaining show. i get confused, how do we separate entertainment from real life, he is dead and so is brock, life goes on, do people get better in death???

Anon, I'm not sure what you're saying. I think the idea was simply to celebrate who he was and help get his message out so his legacy of conservation continues. It was also an opportunity for people to come together and grieve. I thought it was wonderful.

DCMM, I assume you'll be able to. It was on channel 7 here. You can check their website to see if it's on there. Here is some of it:

You're awfully pessamistic. There are heaps of people working in Australia and around the world for conservation as a result of the work of Steve Irwin. He did amazing things for this planet.

Yeah, I missed it. He really was a pretty amazing guy. There toward the end he was sort of a punchline in the states -- since the baby stunt -- but he really did a lot of good that a lot of people will continue to overlook.

Nice to have some new faces on my blog. Do I know you mudbrick? You're not Dboy's brother are you? Hi Greg!

I know you're just stirring cap, but I get your point. People can be over glorified in death, but I don't think it's the case with Steve Irwin.

quote from melb sun, ""irwin would interfere with nature, jump on amimals, grab them, hold them, and have this very spectacular, dramtic way of presenting things,
of cause,it goes very well on television
it sells,it appeaals to alot of people""

you don't touch nature, you look at it.
