For Your Blogging Pleasure

Here are some great blogs to check out! Andrew with his missional diatribe! And Gary with his, something...something good. Check them out anyway, and get posting!!! They also now appear in my blog links down the side.

Been working lots lately. That's good, because work = money. Great equation. But work also = hotness and tiredness. Not such a great equation. I'm a lifeguard for those of you who don't know. Working at a pool (indoor and outdoor) in summer is so humid and crazy hot, and you have to watch everyone swim and you're not allowed in the water. Ug.

It's gotta be one of the most cruel jobs in the world. It's like starving someone, then forcing them to watch a table of food for 8 hours, and they're not allowed to eat anything from it.

do you bulk buy suncream? or wear long sleeve shirts? and zinc!

Work buys those massive pump tubs of sunscreen, they provide it for us thankfully! I wear short sleeves, but lots of sunscreen, I get a bit of a tan from it though which is cool.

They never let you actually get in the water? That sucks! Here, the lifeguards swim during the mandatory breaks/pool checks. So, life every hour or so, they get to hop in.

I agree with guru... that's cruel!

    could you "accidently" fall in?

Erm... not really. over summer, sometimes the boys used to jump in the water, but it's just silly, coz by the time you get changed, get in the water and get out, and changed again, there's not enough time! We only get 15 min breaks, so there just isn't enough time to swim, and we only get a 15 min break for any shift under 4 hours, and half an hour for any shift over 5 hours.

what happens if you do a 4 1/2 hour shift? :P

It's under 5 hours. I did a 4 1/2 hour shift today. Only 15 min break. Same tomorrow. ALthouhg I'm working for 8 hours on Sunday... it's going to be 41. I'm going to die.

aw you poor thing. and i thought working where there's no air-conditioner was bad...

Today it was 41 degrees and it was hotter inside than outside. Much hotter. So not impressed... and it'll be even worse tomorrow... sometimes my job sucks.

Sorry, ludi. That really sucks. I don't think I've ever seen a lifeguard who doesn't have a swimsuit on. That would be like denying skis to the ski patrol. Isn't that the POINT?

(and you can tell your supervisors that some angry woman in the midwest US thinks they're stupid, because we all know how much THAT matters! haha)

No lifeguards here wear swimsuits. I wouldn't want to anyway. Oh well, it's going to be 43 today... not looking forward to work... but bring on the money!
