Work

I'm finally going to start working as a CRT (Casual Relief Teacher)! Finally!!! I'm a little freaked out coz I've never done it before. And I'm starting at a school I've never been to before. I'm sure it'll be ok, but the unknown is slightly scary! I start tomorrow. Prepare for the trauma...

Looks like you're already following your own advice - taking some risks and unlocking potential.

    Good one!

CRT can be hard, depending on your school. I think schools in the high and low ends of our education system are the best...the high end respect teachers as a whole and if you treat them reasonably well they will reciprocate. They also have systems in place to provide you with adequate work to do. The other end of the spectrum is good too, in that the students see you as a person, not necessarily as a teacher. You have no work to do but babysit, but you get to have some good times and get paid well to do it.

The middle-class schools are the worst...no respect for anyone who isn't their normal teacher, and then only minimal.

That's my experience anyway...I'm sure you'll be a far better teacher than I was in my early days and will find it a breeze wherever you are...
